COLUMBIA, Pa. — Severe weather is once again threatening our area today, and Columbia residents are being urged to take extra precautions. With thunderstorms and potentially damaging winds impacting the region, borough officials are asking the public to avoid the Fourth Street area entirely due to ongoing concerns surrounding the damaged former Keystone Fire Company building and the adjoining property that were heavily affected during last week’s devastating storm.
As many residents know, the historic firehouse suffered significant damage during the severe storm that struck Columbia, leading to the collapse of part of the structure onto the neighboring building. Both properties have since been condemned, and safety concerns remain extremely high. Borough officials stated during this week’s council meeting that discussions are ongoing regarding the future of the structures, but no final decisions have been made at this time.
Most importantly, residents should understand that these buildings remain unstable.
