COLUMBIA, Pa. — While recent headlines have understandably focused on serious events and important community debates, there’s also plenty of good news happening across Columbia this week. From family activities and children’s programs to downtown events, live music, and community gatherings, residents have several opportunities to come together and enjoy the best of what our town has to offer.
Summer Fun for Families
The Columbia Public Library is keeping children busy and engaged with several special summer programs.
Young children can cool off during Preschool Pals Water Play on July 22 and July 23. The program gives little ones a chance to enjoy outdoor water activities while making new friends and staying active during the summer months.
On Friday, July 24, families can head to Locust Street Park for “Touch a Garbage Truck” with Penn Waste, followed by Music in the Park with “Mama Tried”. ” Children will have the opportunity to get up close, explore the truck, take photos, and learn how trash collection works in the community. It’s the kind of hands-on experience kids never forget. Then later in the evening Mama Tried will entertain us at Locust Street Park into the night 🙂
Downtown Columbia Comes Alive Saturday
One of the week’s biggest community events is 4th Saturday in Columbia: Summer in the Streets, taking place July 25 in downtown Columbia.
The event will feature:
- Free ice cream
- Face painting
- Balloon artists
- Rock painting
- Bubbles and children’s activities
- Opportunities to explore local shops and businesses
The event is designed to bring families, visitors, and business owners together in a fun and relaxed atmosphere while showcasing everything downtown Columbia has to offer.
Following the family activities, visitors are encouraged to continue exploring downtown during the monthly 4th Saturday shopping event, where local businesses will offer specials and unique experiences.
Classic Cars and Community Spirit
Car enthusiasts will have a reason to celebrate this weekend as Columbia hosts the 8th Annual Cruisin’ for Cats Car Show on July 25.
The event brings together classic vehicles, community members, and animal lovers while helping support local causes. Events like this continue to highlight the generosity and community spirit that make Columbia special.
Music and Entertainment
Looking for a night out?
Music fans can enjoy a live performance by Flux Capacitor, Lady King & The Aces on July 23, while comedy lovers can head to Comedy Night at Columbia Kettle Works on July 25 for an evening of laughs and entertainment.
These smaller local events play an important role in supporting Columbia’s growing arts and entertainment scene.
Looking Ahead
The summer calendar continues to stay busy. Next week, residents can enjoy Pennsylvania Wildlife with Miller’s Wildlife, an educational program featuring live animals and wildlife education for families and children.
