COLUMBIA — Republican state Rep. Brett Miller pulled ahead of Democrat Brad Chambers by 41 votes in the 41st District late Tuesday, after every precinct in the district had reported, according to unofficial Lancaster County results.

Earlier in the night, Chambers had led by 90 votes. When the county posted its 11:09 p.m. update, Miller had moved in front.

Not over yet

The county reports that Election Day and mail ballots counted on election night are complete. But provisional ballots have not yet been counted, and every result stays unofficial until the county certifies it. With a 41-vote margin out of more than 28,000 votes cast, the remaining ballots could matter, and a race this close could end up in a recount.

The Chronicle will report the final result once the count is complete.

A rematch, even closer

In 2024, Miller beat Chambers by about 4,000 votes, 56% to 44%. This year’s rematch was expected to be closer: a September poll by State Navigate had Chambers up by a point, and Chambers outraised Miller three to one after June, LancasterOnline reported.

Miller, 65, of East Hempfield Township, has held the seat since 2014. Chambers, 35, is a Columbia native and labor administrator. The district covers Columbia and Mountville boroughs, East Hempfield and West Hempfield townships and part of Manor Township.

The Chronicle did not endorse in this race. All results are unofficial until certified.
