COLUMBIA — The race for state representative in the 41st District, which covers all of Columbia Borough, was too close to call late Tuesday night.
Democrat Brad Chambers of Columbia led six-term Republican incumbent Brett Miller by just 90 votes, according to unofficial Lancaster County results posted at 10:22 p.m.
| Candidate | Party | Votes | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brad Chambers | Democrat | 12,983 | 50.17% |
| Brett Miller | Republican | 12,893 | 49.83% |
What’s still out
- Three of the district’s 32 precincts had not reported.
- Election Day votes were still coming in from precincts that had partly reported.
- Provisional ballots had not been counted.
- Mail ballots counted on election night were complete.
With a margin that thin, the final outcome may not be known until every ballot is counted, and a race this close could end up in a recount.
A rematch
The race was a rematch of 2024, when Miller beat Chambers 19,926 to 15,870, about 56% to 44%. This year looked closer from the start: a September poll by State Navigate gave Chambers a one-point edge, within the margin of error, and Chambers outraised Miller three to one after June, LancasterOnline reported.
Miller, 65, of East Hempfield Township, has held the seat since 2014. Chambers, 35, is a Columbia native, a Millersville University graduate and a labor administrator.
The 41st District covers Columbia and Mountville boroughs, East Hempfield and West Hempfield townships, and part of Manor Township.
The Chronicle did not endorse in this race. We’ll update this story as more results come in. All results are unofficial until the county certifies them.
