Outdoor enthusiasts may soon have an exciting event to mark on their calendars.
Council is scheduled to consider approval of the Keystone Hiking and Outdoor Weekend, planned for October 23-25, 2026. The event would feature hikes, bicycle rides, walks, boat tours, and other outdoor recreation activities designed to showcase the Susquehanna Riverlands region and Northwest Lancaster County River Trail.
Organizers estimate approximately 200 participants could take part across more than 40 different activities spread throughout the region. Trail-specific activities are expected to remain relatively small, with organizers estimating roughly 30 participants at peak attendance for river trail events.
Supporters believe the weekend will boost tourism and highlight Columbia’s growing reputation as an outdoor recreation destination. The event also aligns with ongoing efforts to attract visitors to borough assets such as Columbia Crossings and the river trail network.
