Letter From The Publishers

For months, we’ve watched something incredible happen.

What started as a simple idea to provide honest, community-focused local news has grown into something much bigger than we ever imagined. Today, we are proud to officially welcome you to The Columbia Chronicle, the next chapter in our journey to serve Columbia and the surrounding communities.

Our former website, ColumbiaPA.Online, has been rebranded and now forwards visitors directly to our new home:

While the name has changed, our mission remains unchanged.

We believe local journalism matters.

We believe residents deserve to know what is happening in their boroughs, schools, businesses, neighborhoods, and communities.

We believe that local government should be covered, local businesses should be celebrated, and local stories should be told.

Most importantly, we believe Columbia deserves a newspaper it can truly call its own.

A Labor of Love

The Columbia Chronicle isn’t owned by a media corporation.

It’s owned by people who live here, work here, and care deeply about this community.

My name is Jesse Sweigart, and I serve as Chief Editor and Publisher. Working alongside me is my future wife and business partner, Kimberly Robinson who oversees community relations and helps guide the vision of this publication.

Simply put, our hearts are in this.

We’ve spent countless early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays covering meetings, writing stories, taking photographs, building websites, and listening to the people of our community.

Every article represents our commitment to keeping local journalism alive.

We’re Almost There

Since launching, we’ve been humbled by the support we’ve received.

Readers have shared our stories.

Businesses have advertised with us.

Residents have called with news tips.

Organizations have trusted us to help spread their message.

And because of that support, we’re closer than ever to reaching a goal we’ve talked about since day one:

Bringing The Columbia Chronicle to Print.

That’s right.

We are actively working toward becoming a regularly printed community newspaper.

The dream that once seemed impossible is now within reach.

We’re not crossing our fingers anymore—we’re making plans.

How You Can Help

As exciting as this moment is, we cannot accomplish it alone.

Printing, distribution, reporting, photography, equipment, software, and operational expenses all come with costs.

That’s why we’re seeking:

  • Community Sponsors
  • Local Business Advertisers
  • Founding Print Partners
  • Corporate Sponsors
  • Community Organizations
  • Supporters Who Believe in Local Journalism

When you sponsor The Columbia Chronicle, you’re doing more than purchasing an advertisement.

You’re helping build a community newspaper.

You’re helping ensure local meetings are covered, community events are promoted, local businesses receive exposure, and readers stay informed about issues that affect their daily lives.

  1. I am thrilled to see that Columbia will have its own newspaper again. I grew up in Columbia, and I love this town. We are a proud bunch, and you’ve just given us another reason for that pride. Thank you.

I’m looking forward to seeing the print edition. I’ll be among your first subscribers!
