COLUMBIA, PA – Columbia Borough Council has approved the next step in the sale of a five-acre development parcel located at 1110 Ridge Avenue.
Council authorized borough officials to negotiate an agreement with the Columbia Economic Development Corporation (CEDC), which would market the property and seek a qualified buyer.
The parcel is located adjacent to the borough’s public works facility and is considered one of Columbia’s most significant development opportunities. Officials believe the property could attract future business investment and generate long-term tax revenue.
Under the proposed arrangement, the CEDC would be responsible for finding and negotiating with potential buyers while working to maximize the property’s value. Borough officials said the goal is to ensure the land is developed in a way that aligns with Columbia’s economic development objectives.
Residents raised questions during the meeting regarding the marketing process, transparency, and how potential buyers would be selected.
Officials stressed that the property remains available to interested developers and businesses and that economic development professionals are best positioned to market the site effectively.
Council members described the sale as an important opportunity to support future growth while generating revenue for taxpayers.
