COLUMBIA, PA — Youth sports have always been about more than wins and losses. They are about teamwork, friendships, confidence, discipline, and giving kids a place to belong.
That mission continues today through the Columbia Borough Athletic Association (CBAA), which recently elected Ronald Stauffer as Vice President as the organization works to strengthen and grow youth sports opportunities throughout the community.
While leadership changes are important, the biggest challenge facing CBAA right now is one shared by many youth organizations across America: participation.
The association is actively seeking more children to sign up, more parents to get involved, and more community members willing to volunteer and support local youth athletics. CBAA currently offers programs including baseball, softball, tee-ball, football, cheerleading, wrestling, and basketball for children throughout the Columbia area.
Registration is currently open for the organization’s basketball and wrestling programs, with additional sports opportunities planned throughout the year. The association also recently announced its Fall Wrestling Clinic and continues preparing future baseball, softball, football, and cheerleading activities.
For many local residents, CBAA represents a tradition that spans generations. Parents who once played on Columbia fields and courts now bring their own children back to participate. The organization’s motto, “One Town. One Team. One Dream,” reflects its commitment to creating opportunities for every child, regardless of experience level.
Youth sports organizations depend on strong community support. Coaches, assistant coaches, team parents, concession workers, sponsors, board members, and volunteers all play critical roles in creating successful programs. Without that support, opportunities for local children become more limited.
As Ronald Stauffer begins his service as Vice President, the message from CBAA is simple: Columbia’s children deserve opportunities to play, learn, compete, and grow. But making that happen requires participation from the entire community.
