WRIGHTSVILLE — Paddlers, get ready. Wrightsville’s new kayak launch on the Susquehanna is nearly finished, the borough engineer told council Monday.
“It looks like a project at this point,” the engineer said. The floating dock is scheduled to be delivered and installed next Wednesday.
Don’t plan a long paddle just yet, though. Under the borough’s agreement, the dock has to come back out of the water for the winter, likely by the end of November. The borough wants to put it in now to work out any kinks and take some photos before it’s pulled.
A few small items are still on the to-do list. Crews forgot to run an electrical conduit under the boat launch area before it was paved, then tried to tunnel under the new asphalt and didn’t go deep enough. The contractor had to cut out that section, so there will be a seam in the pavement. The engineer said the street is lightly used and the fix is mostly cosmetic.
The borough expects to make its final payment and wrap up paperwork on the project next month.
